Village Place

Bay Shore, NY

One of several Downtown redevelopment projects we have partaken in over the years. This retail and residential mixed building is located in the heart of Downtown Bay Shore, and the required program densities challenged the scale of the existing Main St. fabric.  Implementing a mix of three and four story volumes, secondary two story façade gestures, and a traditional, linear ground floor store front detailing, the building captures the program while gracing the street with a pedestrian scale.  In efficiently housing the mixed program needs, the combination of steel frame at lower floor and light wood frame and truss system construction warranted particular attention to connections and details. The building encapsulates increased energy efficiencies and its green principals of design have achieved Smart Growth Awards. Project led to fit out restaurant and retails spaces, as well as small urban park space.
