Shingle Style Lakehouse
Village of Brightwaters, NY
This three-story high-end residence is a testament that great projects require great clients. Reflective of the early 1900’s shingle style, the design concept is for “the making of a home under one roof”. The architectural style and aesthetic of both interior and exterior systems are inspired by the distinguished architectural masters - McKim, Mead and White. Over a three year commitment, BA provided architectural, infrastructure, interior design and administrative services for coordination of multiple custom applications. The studied exterior detailing provided for a true Alaskan yellow cedar roof shingle, custom cut timber rafters, pier detailing of true long island stone, stained glass and copper fabrication detailing, a three inch thick entry door and custom hardware. Interior detailing included custom wood flooring and detailed inlay, wood paneling and millwork, stair and metal fabrications, imported finishes and furnishing. Unique residential systems include geothermal heating and cooling, emergency generator, lighting controls and fire-protection. Inspired by historical masters, the homes success is in the masterful accomplishment of an architect and client partnership.
